It starts with a scribble, a doodle, a jot. For us, that inspiration led to the desire to create our own version of the classic, utilitarian writing instrument. When we found The Musgrave Pencil Company, a family-owned factory in Shelbyville, TN – proudly known as "The Pencil City," we took the idea a step further.
Made from American incense cedar and featuring a #2 graphite core, the GSCo Lead is topped off with a black, bullet end cap to create what we believe is the perfect, utilitarian tool to get it down on paper, mistakes and all.

Founded in 1916 as a mill for cedar slats, Musgrave Pencil Company has endured a century of challenge and changes. Pivoting to full production during the Great War, this family owned and operated company helped establish Shelbyville, TN as the center of pencil industry in the US, prompting then Governor Buford Ellington to bestow it the title of “The Pencil City.”
